Samo Sound Boy Strikes!

Once again highlighting regional NW hotness, RRR presents Sam Griesemer aka Samo Sound Boy. Samo is part of the Risky Business DJ crew based out of Seattle which as noted, is truly nasty bizness. But while Samo represent the fresh crop of nasty NW club music, his roots are def steeped in the east coast. Born in New York City in 1984, he spent his youth fixated on the seminal hip-hop of the mid-nineties, being influenced from an early age by the raw sounds of an early Wu-Tang Clan and the experimental funk of Outkast. Fast forward to 2005 where Samo spent a year living Buenos Aires, Argentina. There he learned to DJ from underground cumbia producers at Fugees 99, a Nigerian owned dancehall in the city’s south end. Returning to New York, Samo continued DJing and started working for Diplo’s brand then fledgling Mad Decent Records as a record stamper/van driver. Now living in Seattle, when Samo isn’t DJing with local club mainstay Tigerbeat, he is turning the heat up on his own productions and remixes. Samo receives the final stamp of approval from my two year old son Julien who continues to demand Samo’s version of Watch My Feet whenever I crank up the music (second only to Tittsworths remix of Brazilian Rhyme)…
